(NEW YORK — January 27, 2026) — Topical Cream announces Victoria Camblin will serve as 2026 Editor-in-Residence, an annual appointment among the publishing platform’s marquee initiatives to support new modalities for art criticism. Launched in 2021, the Editor-in-Residence program responds to the urgent need for criticism and experimental journalism in the broader cultural landscape. Nominations for the residency were solicited from Topical Cream’s Board of Directors and advisors.

Victoria Camblin is the sixth high-profile Editor-in-Residence at Topical Cream, succeeding  curator  Lumi Tan (2025); Ebony L. Haynes (2024), Global Head of Curatorial Projects at David Zwirner; MoMA PS1 Chief Curator and Director of Curatorial Affairs Ruba Katrib (2023); and curator Laura McLean-Ferris (2022).

“I have felt deeply supported by Topical Cream in my work ever since the organization’s inception in 2013,” says Camblin. “When I was appointed as ART PAPERS’ Editor and Artistic Director that year, Topical Cream was the first platform to post about it. I didn’t know people were paying attention to culture editors, especially in the non-profit space. But Topical Cream was. That recognition was incredibly empowering.

“I am honored to have the opportunity to contribute to Topical Cream’s mission and vision in 2026. I plan to use the editorial residency to engage writers, curators, and artists of all disciplines around the notion of mentorship and alternative forms of education — to explore how new systems evolve when creative communities are not supported by traditional institutions, and to celebrate the educational pathways that emerge through collaboration, intergenerational exchange, and lived experience.”

“It’s very exciting to welcome Victoria Camblin as Topical Cream’s 2026 Editor-in-Residence,” said Lyndsy Welgos, Topical Cream Executive Director. “Victoria brings an unusually wide and incisive perspective—ranging from her leadership as Editor-in-Chief of ART PAPERS in Atlanta, where she championed artists working across the Deep South, to her role helping to shape one of the most respected international fashion and culture magazines, 032c. We are especially inspired by her deep investment in education and mentorship as a modality of publishing. We can’t wait to hold the final print publication in our hands in October 2026.”
